Today, we learned a lot about Side-by-Side Charleston! Instead of writing a lot of technical jargon, I found this awesome and clear instructional video by some Lindy Hoppers in San Francisco:
This should be easier to follow than me writing out all the footwork. Some important notes:
- Keep your knees bent and pulse consistently into the ground
- While you’re learning, keep the “Rock step, kick-step, kick-KNEE-kick step” pattern going in your head. “Knee” can be replaced by “hold” or by “and” – feel free to use the word which best reminds you what to do!
- Charleston is meant to move, and it’s more comfortable when you cover a bit of ground
And the video of my recent performance!
